Out With the Old and in With the New
Diggit Contracting, Inc
will replace your old sanitary sewer line, Schedule 40 PVC. Sewer lines installed from the mid-1940s until the 1970s were made of Orangeburg.
Orangeburg pipe
is past its age expectancy, and in most cases, is collapsing inward on itself. If you do have an Orangeburg pipe, we recommend replacing the entire line from your house to the main.
We Have Solutions for Those Older Homes Too
Homes built before the Orangeburg period usually had clay tile pipe. Clay tiles can have root infiltration at the joints, or on occasion, have a broken area that will fill in with dirt.
If your pipe isn't broken, then snaking it out will open up the drain. Roots can start growing back again, so occasional snaking can be used to clear the line. If the problem is too much to keep up with, it can be replaced with PVC.
Some companies may suggest a "liner" pipe that can be inserted into the existing tiles, but we do not recommend that, simply because the 4" inner diameter will be cut to 3.5".
If there is a break in the tile, then excavation and repair will be needed to fix that area. Schedule 40 PVC will be used with Fernco couplings to connect the clay tile at each end of the repair.
